Tracing our roots across the centuries.

The traceable story of our tribe, the "Korekore" starts with Mambo/King Nyatsimba Mutota. Mambo Nyatsimba Mutota in the mid-15th century (around 1440), Mutota migrated north of Zimbabwe from Great Zimbabwe in search of salt and other resources. He arrived in the northern Zambezi Valley, Dande region, which covers northern Zimbabwe and parts of Tete Province in Mozambique.

It is reported that the name "Korekore" came from the local people (Tavara, Tonga, and so forth) he found and conquered in the Dande/Tete area. The locals described Mambo Mutota's effective and aggressively overwhelming battle tactics as "sudden gathering over land like a thick blanket of locusts or clouds," which the locals referred to as "makorekore". With time, the people under Mambo Mutota's rule adopted this name, becoming the Korekore tribe. It is important to state that Mbuya Nehanda was the daughter of King Nyatsimba Mutota.

Where does the Bhero Clan fit into this matrix? For now, suffice to say, years down the line, our great great grandfather became a king/mambo. Mambo Kamheyo was the father of our grandfather, Bhero, the name of our Bhero Clan. It is also reported that the father of Sekuru Kamheyo was Sekuru Chimurara's son ... The details to be continued later.
